Pallet Pumpkins
As everyone knows, reclaimed wood is all the rage...(and expensive)...so why not grab some off of one of those discarded pallets that are sitting behind your local grocery store and make these autumn pumpkins. MATERIALS
1 pallet
4" stick or twig
Hot glue
1 piece of floral wire
jigsaw
screw gun
STEPS
Remove the top boards from the pallet and remove any nails. Decide which side has the finish you prefer and lay six pieces side by side with the good finish side down. Take another board and cut it in half. Take these two pieces and screw them crosswise onto the other boards. Draw your pumpkin shape on the boards. In this example I drew the shape on the back, but I found that drawing it on the other side makes sawing easier. Make sure you leave a flat bottom and give yourself a little dimple at the top. Using the jigsaw, cut out your shape. Hot clue your stick onto the back of the pumpkin so it sticks out at the top dimple. Wrap the piece of floral wire around a broom stick, remove it, stretch it out a bit and hot glue it to the side of the stem. Voila!
