I've Created a Monster!
All out of human cadavers and an extra brain? No worries, you can create this Frankenstein using PVC pipe, buckets and a trashcan. Engineered by our Halloween addicted prop master Dave Lowe, you can find lots of other amazing projects on his website at http://davelowe.blogspot.com. The whole thing will cost you about $50 and snaps together in about 30 minutes. (If you're really good, you can talk the guy at the hardware store into cutting all of the pieces for you - hint: tell him you're making a Frankenstein and not redoing your plumbing, he'll be much more inclined to help.)
MATERIALS
(note: all pvc pipes are 4" diameter)
36" wood disk
2 x 4" end caps
2 x 5' long pipes
2 x 3' long pipes
2 elbow joints
2 T joints
3 x 4" long pipes
2 milk jugs
1 30 gallon plastic trashcan
2 x 5 gallon plastic buckets
1 5 gallon bucket lid
Paint made for plastics
Gorilla Glue
Utility knife
STEPSAttach the 2 T's with a 4" piece Place the T configuration on the wood disk and trace around the two bottom holes to find placement for the end caps. Then using Gorilla Glue, attach the end caps to the disc. Insert the 5' pieces into the end caps. Cut one of the 5 gallon buckets in half and glue to the base for shoes. Place the T configuration on the 5' pipes Cut a 4" circle out of each side of the trash can near the bottom using a utility knife. Also, cut off the handle. Create arms by inserting a 3' piece into an elbow and then adding a 4" piece to the other end of the elbow. Cut a hand out of a milk jug and glue to the bottom. For details on how to cut the hand, there's a video on my Facebook page. Repeat for the second arm. Insert arms into the T structure and add the last 5 gallon bucket with lid on top. Now you can have fun painting and decorating your monster. We painted ours black all over and then used a purple to add splotches and a shirt. The hands and head we made a bright green and added some fur to the lid for hair and two spools painted silver for bolts. You can print out this artwork for the face. Just print it out on a full page sticker, cut out and stick on! BOO!
