Pumpkin Decanters

Here are the steps for the pumpkin decanters that Ken made on Hallmark Channel's Home and Family....

Fall entertaining time is here!  And instead of dusting off that same old punch bowl, why not try something a little different and a lot of fun - a pumpkin decanter.  Very easy and big on impact, it can take a buffet table from fatigued to fabulous! MATERIALS- Pumpkin - Find one that has a little bit of a flat side and enough space to hold your beverage.- Spigot:  You can get modest plastic ones at www.webstaurantstore.com or fancier ones like I used at www.kegworks.com.- Drill STEPS- Cut an good old fashioned Jack-o-Lantern lid in the top of your pumpkin and scoop out the filling.- Using a drill bit slightly smaller than your spigot, drill a hole into your pumpkin.  You don't want it too high or you'll always have to have the pumpkin full, but you don't want it too low as it will curve with the bottom of the pumpkin. - Insert the spigot into the pumpkin.  It should take a little force, but push straight in, don't wiggle it too much - you want a tight seal. - Tighten the washer that comes with the spigot to the back.  If the pumpkin is thicker than the shaft of your spigot, you may need to thin the walls of your pumpkin a little on the inside with a spoon or knife.- Fill with your favorite beverage.  Don't fill it too early, as the pumpkin will eventually get soggy.  Also, it will impart a nice pumpkin flavor to your drink, so keep that in mind.  Beer is great, punch, cider ...  you get the idea.ENJOY!
